Boreal Forests (taiga) are incredibly special to us as Alaskans. They contain more surface freshwater than any other biome, and also hold the largest terrestrial storehouse on earth in the trees, soil and peatland. These beautiful forests are a mix of spruce, pine, larch, some aspen and birch, dwelling on a thick carpet of moss, lichen and lowbush berries.
