The Music Soap Series: connecting soap with music. Learn more about the inspiration and creation of this Classical soap at https://youtu.be/zrh5ORO0wog What is Classical music? It is a bit confusing to be honest. It is how we describe the Western classical musical art form, as well as the time period from 1750-1820. But in this case, it is in reference to the time period within the construct of Western music. Moving from the complexity of Baroque, I found myself thinking of Classical as being more refined and elegant, even softer. I wanted something that continued to draw on the elements that had been established and had been weaving through the different periods and soaps, but now to shape into a refinement and richness. Sticking to the palette of blue/green, I moved into a slightly brighter shade of Kelly Green, which I used to created a solid base color, and then I used an in-the-pot swirl technique to sweep more green into the creamy soap base. Across the top, I sculpted the soap and dusted it with the Maya Gold to keep the richness that we have found throughout. This smoother, swirling texture with the nuanced color and deep base really connects to the essence of the Classical period. Drawing on this progression away from the complexity of the Baroque, I used the scent "White Tea and Pear," which holds top notes: bergamot, lemon and apple; middle: peach; bottom: woody. These all merge together to create a full-bodied but well-blended fragrance that blooms over time. The Classical period (1750-1820) began moving away from the intricacies of the Baroque, and developing in form and structural clarity. Texture became more important than complexity. Orchestras were growing larger in number, as well as the range and size of instruments, and a number of new musical forms were created as well, including the sonata, quartet, trio, concerto and symphony.
